Superleague Match 1 – 21st August 2009

Birkenhead           1         Dingle     5

Kate Woods (14.53) 1 Viv Cullimore (15.05)     3
Sarah Clarke (11.56) 3 Sandra Gibson (10.70)     0

Claire New (16.64) 2 Claire Edgar (16.80)     3
Lisa Parkinson (11.87) 1 Mary McGovern (12.49)   3

A good away win from Dingle being able to field a full team certainly makes a difference to them, lets hope they can continue doing this.   Commiserations to Birkenhead some of the games were closer than the scoreline looks.

LOM –   Claire Edgar 16.80

Crosby           6 St Helens 0

Kim Williams (15.99)   3 Cashie Tunstall (14.13)     0

Karen OConnor (12.82)3 Chris Richards (12.39)       2
Tracy Morrison (16.34)3 Sue Haselden (15.15)       0

Not the best of starts by the new team from St Helens, and I do hope that they were not disheartened by this result. Well done to Karen O’Connor on hitting a 180 and there was a good leg of 20 darts thrown by Chris Richards in the same game.

LOM –   Tracy Morrison 16.34

Wallasey                             3         Dingle 3

Vicki Evans (16.89) 3 Vicki Gerrard (15.66) 0
Sue Alexander (16.75) 3 Claire Edgar (14.28) 1
Joyce Buck (13.81) 1 Janet Hardman (15.65) 3

Barbara Parker (13.35) 2 Mary McGovern (13.52) 3
Becki Minnis (13.78) 2 Viv Cullimore (14.62) 3

A great start for the home team, good wins for both Vicki Evans and Sue Alexander to put them 2 games in the lead.   A solid game from Janet Hardman brought one back for the away team which was short lived as the birthday girl Debby Clarke took the next game for Wallasey.   At 3 1 down Dingle had it all to do and this they did – very hard fought struggles from Mary McGovern and Viv Cullimore brought the match to a deserved draw.

LOM –   Vicki Evans 16.89

Thingwall 4 Crosby                 2

Sue Bonner (18.52) 0 Kim Williams (20.67) 3
Alice Sherlock (11.51) 2 Tracy Morrison (12.70) 3

A blistering start to this game for Thingwall, taking the first 4 games to seal the points from the start. Good solid games from Pam Courts, Sandra James and Julie Whelan setting the standard.   A great game from Kim Williams, LOM on the night with a 20.67 average showing that the home side were not going to have it all their own way.
A good start to this season for Thingwall – letting everyone know that they are not going to give up their title easily if at all.

LOM – Kim Williams 20.67

St Helens 3 Birkenhead 3

Mo Fogg (13.22) 0 Claire New (16.89) 3

Caryn Goldthorpe (11.88) 0 Sarah Clarke (13.18) 3
Hilda Adams (14.12) 0 Emma Barlow (17.68) 3

A very good result for the new team St Helens going 3-1 up at home – a great reaction to their first defeat at Crosby.   A spirited fightback from Birkenhead coming back from 3-1 down to draw 3-1.   Good games from Caire New and Emma Barlow.   Great finish from Emma Evans on 127.

Esther Owens (16.71) 3 Viv Cullimore (15.70) 2
Alice Sherlock (10.98) 0 Janet Hardman (14.18) 3

A great start to the match for the away team taking the first 2 games of the night.
A lovely game from Vicki Gerrard earning her LOM on the night and a great finish by Mary McGovern – 118.   Last years league winners came back strongly as expected and actually took the next 3 games to go ahead on the night and with a solid game from Janet Hardman at the end the points were rightly shared on the night.

LOM – Vicki Gerrard 17.28

Heartbreak for Birkenhead this week being beaten 6 0 by a very consistent Crosby team I might add, you only have to look at their averages to see that.   Its always going to be hard going to a game without a full team, believe me I know   - oh yes I do !!   Well done to Jo Oliver on her LOM who also had two good finishes, 95 and 84 in   what looked to be a very close game with Emma.

Superleague Match 4 – 18th September 2009

Dingle                             2         Crosby 4

Viv Cullimore (14.83)           1           Debbie Cutler (15.94)       3
Sandy Gibson (13.94)         3           Paula Dilsworth (13.98) 1

Claire Edgar (14.53)           0           Karen O’Connor (15.99) 3

A hard fought win by the current league leaders after fending off a spirited start to the match from the home side.   Crosby started off by taking the first game but never really got ahead in the match until it was won because Dingle kept coming back, levelling the scoreline twice before 2 solid wins from Kim Williams (17.58) and Karen O’Connor (15.99) sealed the win.

LOM –   Kim Williams 17.58

Wallasey 0 Birkenhead 6

Sue Alexander (15.48) 1 Pat Moody (17.08) 3

Sheila Bevington (14.65) 2 Emma Barlow (16.42) 3
Barbara Parker (9.88) 2 Emma Evans (9.34) 3

An ecstatic win for Birkenhead after some poor results at the start of the season, however some of the games could have gone either way by the looks of the averages.   Hard luck Wallasey I’m sure you will bounce back.   Well done to Pat Moody and Claire New, both having very good games.

LOM –   Claire New 18.55

Mandy Potter (15.20) 0 Sandra James (19.26) 3
Hilda Adams (11.95) 1 Esther Owens (14.72) 3

A great start for St Helens going 2 0 up after the first two games, however this was short lived as Thingwall came back to take the next 4 games – some of them with excellent averages.   Well done to Sue Bonner, Pam Courts and Sandra James on what looks (from the averages) to have been some good darts.

LOM –   Sandra James 19.26
Superleague Match 5 – 25th September 2009

Claire Edgar (13.24) 1 Sue Haseldon (13.70) 3
Mary McGovern (17.28) 3 Caryn Goldthorpe (14.64) 0

A good start for the home team taking the first two games then a good game from Mandy Potter pulling a game back for the visitors.   Jan Hardman and Mary McGovern both had good games to seal the points for the home side but not before Sue Haseldon bt Claire Edgar to show a final challenge from the visiting team.

LOM –   Mary McGovern 17.28

Crosby 5 Wallasey 1

Debbie Cutler (18.56) 3 Vicki Evans (13.63) 0

Karen O’Connor (14.45) 3 Ruth Pritchard (13.83) 0
Paula Dilsworth (10.92) 0 Becki Minnis (12.63) 3

Crosby, league leaders at the moment, played a good match and steamed ahead with the points from the start.   Great game from Debbie Cutler setting the match in motion with a commendable LOM.   Looks like Wallasey are having a bit of a hard time at the moment but I’m sure they will bounce back with some good results.

Super start for Thingwall taking the first 3 games of this match, but Birkenhead fought back well taking the next 2 games and making   it all to play for in the last game, which was won with a good solid game from Sue Bonner of Thingwall.   Well Played Claire New on her LOM.

Welcome back everyone, felt like this year was never going to start what with the late start in the fixtures, but the game definitely proved its worth in the wait.

Definitely a match of 2 halves.   A great start from Mary McGovern, LOM on the day getting us all started and obviously in the mood for some points.   The games carried on going the way of the visitors and before anyone could blink the score was 6 0.   There was also a good game from Julie Whelan who only just missed out to Mary for the LOM.

Then came Sunday.   Cumbria ladies were definitely in the mood for some payback and payback they did, reversing the same score from Saturday to their own on Sunday.   There were some close games and the ones that stood out for Merseyside where Emma Barlow, Tracy Morrison and Sandra James.

Overall, a good solid performance from our Ladies, some good points won this weekend, lets all keep it up.

See you all at SAMS for the next game against Nottinghamshire,

Wallasey                         3         Thingwall 3

Becki Minnis (15.19) 0 Julie Whelan (15.99) 3

Vicki Evans (13.07) 3 Jenny Courts (12.12) 1
Joyce Buck (14.32) 2 Sandra James (15.53) 3

Good games from Julie Whelan and Pam Courts gave Thingwall a great start but Wallasey were obviously in the mood tonight and took the next three games in a row to put themselves in a great position to take the points.   Alas it wasn’t meant to be as Sandra James held strong in the last game against Joyce Buck to ensure a draw on the night.

LOM –   Pam Courts 17.08

A good solid game from the home side earning the points on the night, albeit with only 5 players, lets hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. Excellent game from Claire New which saw her get the LOM with a 19.08 average.

LOM –   Claire New 19.08

Oh dear, another whitewash from Crosby who obviously mean business this year and with a team of winning averages like this its not hard to see why they are top of the league.   Its hard to highlight just 1 player for the night, but it definitely goes to LOM Michelle Jones with her 19.08.   Keep your heads up St Helens I’m sure you’re night will come.

Top of the table clash this week and what a game it looks to have been.
First 2 games going to the home side with a great game from Joanne Oliver earning her the LOM on the night.   Thingwall saved a game through their captain Julie Whelan but before they knew it they were 3 1 down and finding themselves saving another game shortly after through Esther Owens.   A good game at the last and to take the points on the night came from Karen O’Connor.

LOM –   Joanne Oliver 18.82

Unfortunately Wallasey only had 5 players which was a shame after their great result the previous week at Thingwall.   Not having enough players shows and puts pressure on the team from the start knowing they are already 1 game down.   However, in saying that Dingle went off to a flyer with a great LOM from Mary McGovern followed by 2 solid games from Janet Hardman and Viv Cullimore.   The points were sealed by Vicki Gerrard in the last game of the night with Wallasey only having one winner – well done Debby.

A solid start from Wallasey taking the first 3 games and a lot of points looked promising for the away team until a resurgence from the home team.   Good games from Chris Richards and Sue Haselden showed some spirit but alas Wallasey hung on to take the match on the last game.   Great finish by Jacquie Simmonds chipping out on 109.

Another impressive 4 points from Crosby who seem to be flying this year.
Great game from Michelle Jones earning her the LOM on the night and seems to be playing so well at the moment.   Hard luck to Birkenhead who have been a little down on their luck of late but I’m sure they will have an upturn of results soon.

Impressive game from Julie Whelan who fought back from being beaten 3-1 to level the game 2-2 and then pull out a 16 dart game to win her game and take the points on the night for Thingwall.   Good games from Mary and Janet from the home side to take some points.

Final Score: 7 5

Well it’s been a long time coming but this was a victory the ladies deserved.
A good start from Jan Hardman setting the pace and an excellent game from Kim Williams to put the home side 2 0 up.   Nottinghamshire fought back taking the next game but to no avail as Merseyside ladies B took the next 2 games to seal the points on the day.   Good game from Mary McGovern and our LOM Julie Whelan (18.47).

Sunday didn’t start as well as we would of liked with Nottinghamshire taking the lead from the off.   Spirited games from Michelle Jones and Sandra James put the home team back in front but not for long as the away team levelled the points once again.   A good solid game from Joanne Oliver secured at least a draw and a draw it was at the end with a good win by Helen Harvey to tie the match.

Overall a good win for the Merseyside ladies, let’s keep the spirit going for our next match, well done ladies.   See you all at the next game against Montgomery and Radnor,

Crosby definitely showed their intentions on this night, they definitely want their crown back and they are looking to win it back early in the season by the looks of it.   Even if lady luck did ride on a couple of games it doesn’t ride on them all and the end result is what matters most – we all know that !   Anyway, good start from Michelle Jones only to be levelled in the next game by Vicki Gerrard but that was the end of the comeback by Dingle, Crosby steamed ahead with the other four games to take the match 5-1.   Great game from Kim Williams keeping up her fine form of late.   A lovely 180 from Mary McGovern.

Jayne Cooke (10.82) 0 Mary McGovern (13.07) 3
Chris Richards (11.05) 3 Sandra Gibson (11.01) 0
Hilda Adams (13.80) 3 Vicki Gerrard (12.44) 1
Sue Haseldon (13.10) 1 Janet Hardman (14.31) 3
Caryn Goldup (13.19) 1 Viv Cullimore (13.90) 3
Laura Polding (6.81) 0 Karen Marsden (9.00) 3

LOM –   Janet Hardman 14.31

Not the prettiest of matches by any standard but Dingle came from behind to take 3 games on the run to take the points on the night.

Wallasey 3 Crosby 3

Becki Minnis (14.73) 3 Paula Dilsworth (13.03) 0
Sheila Bevington (12.72) 3 Tracy Morrison (12.70) 2
Sue Alexander (11.27) 2 Sarah Kershaw (12.84) 3
Joyce Buck (11.05) 0 Karen O’Connor (13.78) 3
Vicki Evans (18.76) 3 Michelle Jones (18.47) 2
Barbara Parker (13.88) 1 Debbie Cutler (15.28) 3

LOM – Vicki Evans 18.76

A great result for the home side, who went 2 games up at the start against the league leaders.   However, Crosby showed their worth by levelling the score over the next 2 games but the best games of the night were saved until last.   LOM Vicki Evans gave the home side at least a draw with a super game against Michelle Jones and a solid game from Debbie Cutler secured a draw on the night.

Thingwall 3 Birkenhead 3

Julie Whelan (16.19) 3 Linda Finn (14.69) 2
Sandra James (13.19) 1 Pat Moody (13.28) 3
Pam Courts (17.89) 3 Lisa Parkinson (13.76) 0
Sue Bonner (15.15) 3 Sarah Clarke (12.90) 1
Alice Sherlock (14.58) 0 Claire New (21.78) 3
Jenny Courts (13.10) 1 Emma Barlow (14.24) 3
LOM –   Claire New 21.78

Looking to get some points back on Crosby, Thingwall may well of slipped up a little here.   They looked strong at the start taking 3 from the first 4 games with the only winner from Birkenhead being Pat Moody.   Then a fantastic game from Claire New, LOM on the night and a solid game from Emma Barlow equalled the score on the night to give Birkenhead a well earned draw.
Superleague Match 11 – 20th November 2009

It is with sadness that I must report that St Helens have dropped out of our league.
They have tried to sustain a team but it would seem that the travelling in this league has deemed once again too much for some of their players and rather than let teams down with their non attendance have decided to fold.   We do hope that they can organise something in the future and look forward to them returning soon.

Birkenhead 4         Dingle 2

Pat Moody (15.42) 3 Sandra Gibson (14.72) 2
Claire New (17.28) 3 Mary McGovern (15.40) 0
Lisa Parkinson (13.64) 3 Claire Edgar (13.39) 2
Sarah Byrne (12.90) 1 Vicky Gerrard (13.08) 3
Sarah Clarke (11.74) 3 Viv Cullimore (11.31) 0
Emma Barlow (14.81) 2 Janet Hardman (15.20) 3

LOM –   Claire New 17.28

Keeping up the momentum this week, Birkenhead are certainly gaining some points on the rest of the league.   Good start, going 3 0 up through Pat Moody, Claire New (LOM)   and Lisa Parkinson making sure of at least a draw at the halfway mark.   Dingle scrapped one back through Vicky Gerrard but the comeback was shortlived as Sarah Clarke sealed the points on the night.   Janet Hardman getting a consolation point at the end.

Wallasey 1 Thingwall 5

Barbara Parker (12.54) 2 Alice Sherlock (12.59) 3
Vicki Evans (16.16) 1 Esther Owens (17.51) 3
Becki Minnis (13.33) 1 Julie Whelan (13.71) 3
Sue Alexander (16.51) 3 Pam Courts (17.16) 2
Debby Clarke (11.16) 1 Sue Bonner (12.75) 3
Joyce Buck (14.56) 1 Sandra James (16.44) 3

LOM – Esther Owens 17.51

Another fruitful point winning game for Thingwall, it must be getting so close at the top of the table by now!   Well done to Esther Owens, LOM on the night but with solid wins from her team-mates too.   Well played Sue Alexander, the only winner for the home team on the night, keeping her head and giving her team hope that a draw could still be done at that point in the match.
